Tool # 11 Digital Citizenship; The sky is the limit

Regarding digital citizenship, it is really important to inform the students that it is here how. When they have the opportunity to fully become part of this instant, real time interaction, it will be the dream of a lifetime for many adults and a reality for them. There are rules, however, that they must follow. These rules have to do with their safety, the way their message will be perceived and the type of interaction they are having with others.

1. First of all, personal information should be kept away from public view along with pictures and other information that makes you vulnerable to anybody, such as age and geographical location.

2. The second rule has to do how the message they are trying to convey and how it will be perceived by different people; it is the audience and mode of your message and on line etiquette.

3. Lastly, what is the purpose of their message? They will be interacting for different reasons, but they should make it a priority to communicate in order to learn from each other and to maintain a human interaction, be it with their classmates, cousins, teacher, grandparents, students from other countries; there are no limits, except those they set for themselves.
